“Iedereen die op een doordeweekse dag weleens een van de schouwburgen in ons land heeft bezocht, staat versteld van de afmetingen. Op zo’n moment besef je waarom de grote zaal jarenlang een schrikbeeld voor jonge theatermakers is geweest. Tot aan het eind van de jaren zestig kende het Nederlandse toneel het ook nauwelijks, de kleine zaal; sinds Actie Tomaat tot op heden is het aantal splintergroepen en clubjes dat uitsluitend optreedt in kleine zalen explosief gestegen. Daarin is nu een kentering gekomen. De angst voor de grote zaal is weg.”
